Each of us is a unique being, a whole new universe within. Although we may have similar names for our ailments, everyone experiences their symptoms slightly differently. The method by which I arrive at a proper remedy is one of discovery for both you and for myself. When our visit is over, I hope you will understand yourself in a deeper, more compassionate way than before.
If we imagine that each of your symptoms -- perhaps eczema, fatigue, irritability and chronic sore throats -- are branches on a tree, my goal is not to just prune off those branches, but to pull out the "trunk" that supports and promotes these symptoms. To do this I must uncover the core sensation and energy pattern that governs the myriad aspects of your life.
An example might be of someone who has a tendency to shrink and recoil when faced with not only a bout of eczema, but also when beginning a new relationship. That particular reaction will be consistent with the person's internal patterning. To illustrate further, when faced with a job loss or a migraine, one person may have an innate inclination to burn up and be explosive while another might feel clenched and constricted. These patterns can be related to the source substance that the body is calling for, the remedy that will mirror the disturbance and free the ‘dis-ase.’
During an interview, I am always seeking to identify that underlying sensation and how it manifests throughout the local symptoms. This method of ‘vital sensation’ case-taking has been developed and consistently refined by Dr. Rajan Sankaran in Mumbai. My continuing education with him and his colleagues has led me to witness the astounding correlation between our illnesses and the behavior of substances in nature.
The method consists of careful listening to the patient and gently probing deeper when particular words are expressed with energy. Unlike many standard homeopathic consultations which consist of a list of questions, this method follows the patient freely, but always with an ear to the underlying disturbance. By understanding the kingdom being expressed by the patient (mineral, animal, plant), then the sub-classification (is it a gas, metal, mammal, bird, tree, vine, etc.?) we can find our way to the actual source (sodium phosphate, falcon, pine tree, etc.). At this point, the inner disturbance and the remedy are clear and confirmed.
I believe this method and its ability to uncover our core disturbance demands constant study and training. Learning to hear the voice of nature within a person and apply its curative powers is a lifelong goal for me. I am most grateful to my teachers and the paths they've carved.
“To penetrate into the essence of all being and significance, and to release the fragrance of that inner attainment for the guidance and benefit of others, by expressing in the world of forms - truth, love, purity and beauty - this is the sole game that has any intrinsic and absolute worth. All other incidents and attainments can, in themselves, have no lasting importance.”
